RugNews.com presents some of the top area rug trends at the fall edition of High Point Market.
HIGH POINT, N.C. -- Area rug showrooms across the High Point campus featured top design trends expected to continue to win in 2026.
Among the top looks are solid colored high-low designs, with ivory and beige being top colorways that generated enthusiasm with designers and retailers walking the show. In addition, several area rug showrooms featured easy to decorate with solids in directional colorways including rich browns, deep greens, midnight blues, and of course beige, sand and gray.
Abstract designs continue to trend but the latest iterations feature neutral warm tones including ivory, beige and camel, making them easy to incorporate into many decor styles. As a counterpoint, more dramatic abstracts in rich inky blues or charcoals are also gaining traction as interiors turn more dramatic or moody.
In the updated traditional category, color palettes run the gamut from subtle neutral designs, also in shades such as ivory and beige, to richly saturated grounds in hues such as denim or terracotta. Buyers had multiple weaves and constructions to choose from this fall market, from affordably priced washables to approachable hand-tufted designs to heirloom-quality hand-knotteds.
Many showrooms featured more feminine or romantic styles with florals continuing to gain ground. Contemporary oversized motifs or cottage-inspired designs remain on buyers' check lists. These looks predominated in the hand-tufted and machine-woven categories where the latest techniques allow for trending textures and unlimited colors.
What's more, licensed partners showed up at events at rug showrooms throughout market to roll out their latest rugs -- all of which offered market-goers on-trend designs with a designer-approved point of view. Here's a peek at four of the new directions found at High Point rug showrooms: New Solids, Updated Abstracts, New Traditionals and Refreshed Florals.
