The Art of 20th Century Rugs series.
NEW YORK -- Five rug exhibitors -- a mix of young labels and established brands -- celebrated awards at the 2025 International Contemporary Furnishings Fair (ICFF), held in late May at New York City's Javits Center.
At the event several awards are presented with the International Contemporary Furniture Fair bestowing multiple awards upon exhibitors, including the Editors Awards, Best of Students, Best of Schools, and Best of Launch Pad Editors Award. ICFF Partner Awards include the Female Design Council's FDC Awards and the NKBA Manhattan NYC Chapter's INSPIRE Awards. The ASID (American Society of Interior Designers) NY Metro chapter hosts their Best of ICFF and the IFDA (International Furnishings and Design Association) bestows its Selects Awards at the fair.
ICFF newcomer allybello, founded by artist and designer Alex DelBello, earned the 2025 FDC Award in the Best in Flooring category at its first public presentation of its handmade area rugs. The Female Design Council awards recognize women who show creativity, leadership and a positive impact in the design industry. DelBello showcased her coastal themed rugs, including Pebble, hanging in the rear, and Ripple, on the floor.

Fledgling area rug label Cicil Rugs, based in Durham, N.C., returned to ICFF as part of the WANTED DESIGN pavilion and earned an ICFF Editors Award in Craftsmanship. The sustainable and environmentally responsible rug manufacturer crafts its rugs in a third generation textile mill from premium wool fiber sourced directly from farms on the East Coast or upcycled natural fibers like jute.

Eliko Rugs by David Ariel took home two awards for its recently introduced collaboration with Anne-Marie Barton, founder of design studio AMB, which is based in Holladay, Utah. The hand-crafted Barton collection was featured throughout the Eliko booth earning it the IFDA Selects' Best in Show Flooring & Rug Award, and NKBA's INSPIRE Award in the Carpet and Flooring category. Barton's designs are influenced by organic forms and textures and her debut rugs are handwoven of natural materials such as jute, mohair, New Zealand wool and wool.

The ICFF Editors Awards recognized JD Staron's latest series Timeless Threads: The Art of 20th Century Rugs awarding it the Editors Award in Flooring & Rugs at the 2025 event. Timeless Threads, which draws inspiration from the Art Deco period, recasts familiar design elements and forms from that era for contemporary floors.

Editors Award in Flooring & Rugs.
And ICFF first-time exhibitor Maison Toukkani, an area rug and textiles producer based in Switzerland, earned a thumbs up for its Pelican wall textile, which was inspired by a custom area rug created by the studio. The atelier produces all of its artfully crafted rugs in Morocco of local wool. Maison Toukkani earned an ASID Best of ICFF 2025 award in the Materials/Textiles category.
