HIGH POINT, N.C. -- Rug showrooms across the High Point Market campus put forward an ambitious lineup of innovative design-driven area rugs to help close the final selling season on a high note.

While traffic appeared somewhat down, most rug showrooms reported that serious buyers were in attendance and placing orders. Many exhibitors expect that the fall selling season will help them close out the year positively.

Market-goers had plenty to choose from with several rug exhibitors presenting designer-driven high-end collections alongside more attainably priced machine-woven and hand-crafted designs. Other more focused rug exhibitors, such as hand-knot specialists or machine-made providers, showcased their expertise in these categories rolling out new fashion-forward designs highlighting their technical acumen.

Texture remained a strong selling point as did natural materials, which spanned pure wool offerings to sumptuous high content silk and wool rugs. As high-end fibers continue to be explored on one hand, they are balanced by in-demand easy-care performance collections designed for busy households, which ranged from washable designs to new innovative fibers for higher-end performance styles.

RugNews.com toured dozens of High Point Market showrooms and presents the market's favorites alongside the newsmakers.
