from luxurious hand-knotted to hand-finished machine-woven, at the fall market.

HIGH POINT, N.C. -- High Point Market rug debuts showcase the weaving and design acumen behind the latest round of introductions.

The focus at many of the top names in the business present a range of high-end area rugs in fashion-forward colors, styles and textures. Rug buyers at market can expect plenty of hand-knotted debuts, from updated traditional designs woven of recycled garment silk, to plush and dense pure wool options in organic styles, abstract pieces and contemporary geometric looks.

For more budget conscious shoppers, exhibitors will present more affordably priced hand-knotted pieces, hand-loomed, hand-tufted and machine woven rugs that still offer the look and feel of their higher-end counterparts but without the wallop to the wallet. In fact, many industry players continue to push the boundaries of machine-woven rug collections amping up the density and fiber choices to include natural wool designs. Indeed, rug players are rolling out collections full of hand-finished details to rival hand-knotted counterparts.

While the trending color palettes continue to showcase designer-approved warm beiges and browns, green is now de rigueur and will be found at showrooms throughout the High Point campus. These earthy tones, however, are joined by a new display of blue motifs featuring shades from soft French blue to deep midnight. The mood is becoming decidedly more dramatic with deep and moody area rug designs in colorways such as charcoal, black and inky blue gaining in popularity.

Whatever a buyers' budget, RugNews.com's exclusive two-part guide to area rugs showcases the must-see designs across a variety of weaves.
