THE BIGGEST & BEST SHOPPERS' GUIDE TO RUGS AT HIGH POINT MARKET, PART 1

HIGH POINT, N.C. -- High Point Market kicks off tomorrow with area rug executives predicting strong spring 2019 results, in part due to innovative area rug designs, license program expansions and key events.

In fact, many surveyed area rug executives reported packed schedules over the market's opening weekend with many anticipating 2019 High Point sales to outpace last year's spring results.

"Spring 2019 market should be better than spring 2018 -- the year has started off well," Mike Thompson, vice president sales, direct division/GM, LR Resources, told RugNews.com. Thompson pointed out that LR Resources will add some eight new designs to its successful Naturals collection, roll out several high-quality machine-made designs, and expand its home accessories assortment.

Likewise Kaleen's Blake Dennard is also predicting the company's full High Point schedule will bolster spring 2019 sales, which he anticipates will be ahead of last year's April market -- and even stronger than the company's High Point October 2018 market. Kaleen introduces several new hand-made wool collections, in addition to machine-woven ones, that the company reckons will resonate with buyers.

"Jaipur Living had one of its strongest years in terms of sales in 2018. We've experienced growth at every market, and we expect that to continue in 2019," Teresa Roberts, Jaipur Living director of national sales, reported, adding that Jaipur Living is introducing some 80 new area rug designs for market. "So far, markets for 2019 have shown strong sales and I don't see that changing for spring."

Also expected to make some waves at market, Harounian Rugs International (HRI) officially takes the wraps off its new licensed collection created in collaboration with renowned textile designer Wesley Mancini. Karastan dramatically grows its popular Scott Living program and adds to Patina Vie. Both Feizy and Nourison are creating special galleries to showcase their growing range of one-of-a-kind rugs. Couristan will showcase not only its latest area rugs but present them through the kaleidoscope of its 2019 trends forecast. And, Kalaty returns to High Point Market with a new showroom and ribbon cutting.

In Part 1 of RugNews.com's Biggest & Best Shoppers' Guide to Rugs at High Point Market, we scope out the news from rug showrooms from Amer to Kas. Part 2 continues the coverage with the latest news and designs from Loloi to Trans-Ocean by Liora Manne.
