Surveying more than 15 area rug players -- from exclusive purveyors of hand-knotted rugs to machine-made specialists, both domestic and abroad -- the 2022 top of the charts includes everything from intricate hand-knotted traditional motifs reworked in trending colorations to dense textural abstract motifs in myriad constructions to classic outdoor motifs that are smart enough for the indoors. Below, RugNews.com presents the best-selling area rugs of 2022.


Amer's hand-knotted Bristol collection, crafted of New Zealand wool, was a top hit in 2022 for its pairing of neutral

Hand-knotted of hand-spun wool, Feizy's Dalia collection design 6370F with its warmed up gray palette remains
among the company's best-selling rugs.


HRI's hand-knotted Aria collection, crafted of pure New Zealand wool, features a dense heavy textured pile that

La Jolla by HRI, hand-knotted of 100 percent PET yarn, was a hit for its performance qualities and ultra dense pile.

Jaipur Living's Cambridge CMB02 hand-woven of wool offers a tweed-styled motif that resonated in 2022.

the charts in 2022.

Kaleen's popular Tamara Day Juniper TDJ06 rug was popular for its black-and-white textured geometric pattern.


Karastan's first new SmartStrand collection in four years, Pandora was a big hit with buyers for its classic Persian

Bowen by Drew & Jonathan Home for Karastan offers a knitted micropoly construction and buyers couldn't get enough

Among the 2022 best-selling rugs from Momeni hail from its hand-woven linen Koukila collection, part of Momeni's  
new collaboration with Pure Salt Design.

Momeni's recently introduced wool hand-knotted Willow-4 design featuring a check-board patter quickly climbed to
the top of the company's best-sellers list.


Nourison's perennial favorite Prismatic lineup remains a top choice for its lush hand-tufted abstract motifs, and design
PRS26 was a favorite in 2022.

Nourison's Colorado collection's CLR03 was a hit for its neutral palette and basket weave motif.


OW's recently introduced Aberdeen collection, woven of incredibly soft, space-dyed polyester in a high-density, low-

Oriental Weavers' new Nebulous collection's design 530e topped the charts for its dense, low-profile textural motifs
rendered in warmed up neutrals.


Tiger designs flew off the racks at Rug & Kilim and this design (26695) from the company's more affordable Homage
collection proved a top choice.

Modern geometrics trended at S&H Rugs in 2022 and among the favorites was this art nouveau design (sh79415).

The hand-knotted Revere collection from Surya, which reworks iconic Oushak motifs in PET yarns,  resonated with

Tamarian's Haus MZ proved a top-choice with buyers looking to make a bold modernist statement.

Liora Manne's latest foliage designs for Trans-Ocean, including Malibu Pine in green, was a hit in 2022.

Trans-Ocean's popular Marino collection's latest designs (Tides, above) were market favorites in 2022.
