NEW YORK -- Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 27 for Berdj Abadjian of The Abadjian Collection, New York City. He died Thursday, Sept. 25  after suffering a brain hemorrhage. He was 71. 

Mr. Abadjian was a legendary expert and dealer of antique carpet. He functioned as a teacher and leader for an entire generation of today's antique carpet professionals all over the world.

In addition to antique carpets, The Abadjian Collection, headquartered at  200 Lexington Ave. in New York, serviced the design community with exquisite custom carpet hand knotted in Romania.

He is survived by his wife, Antonia; an uncle, Vahe Apelian, and a cousin, Garbis Apelian.

Edward D. Lynch Funeral Home, Sunnyside, Queens,  is in charge of arrangements.
