RugNews.com tours area rug showrooms across High Point bringing you a look at what's new and noteworthy.
HIGH POINT, N.C. -- RugNews.com stops in dozens of area rug showrooms to gauge what's new and noteworthy across High Point for the spring edition of this major home furnishings fair.
The mood was upbeat despite the current geopolitical climate and buyers from some major home furnishings retailers -- including Bob's Discount Furniture, Nebraska Furniture Mart, Rooms to Go, and Homemakers Furniture -- were on the ground shopping rugs. So too were designers, and most major rug showrooms offered a range of price points catering to all segments to the market.
According to Alex Peykar, principal at Nourison, which offers one-stop-shopping for rug buyers, the company had a full appointment book and sales results for the first several months of the year are up double digits.
"We had a few of our largest accounts come through an are double-digits," Peykar told RugNews.com. While he expects that to temper over the second half, he anticipates the sales to increase over 2025.
Likewise, HRI's Greg Jordt noted that business and traffic were better than the 2025 fall High Point Market and the company's on-trend styles have resulted in sustained growth at the company.
Feizy Rugs' Mike Riley noted that business in Q1 was "great," but then slowed down, likely due to oil prices surging and the war in Iran. He noted that the company, which has longtime strong relationships with many major retailers and interior designers, had a steady flow of clients in the days before the market's official kick off and through the weekend.
What's more, rug showrooms across High Point offered both inspiration and fresh product designed to grab attention.
