Tempaper Expands into Rugs and Traditional Wallpaper

Tempaper, a source for peel and stick wallpaper, extends the brand into the area rug category with a lineup rolling out at the spring High Point Market. It also introduces an inaugural collection of traditional wallpaper.

HIGH POINT, N.C. -- Peel and stick wallpaper manufacturer Tempaper & Co. extends the brand into the area rug category with its first lineup rolling out at the spring High Point Market.

Launched in 2008 by co-founders Julia Au and Jennifer Matthews, Tempaper became known for its domestically made, easy to apply and remove peel and stick wallpapers. Now, the New York-based studio is debuting its inaugural area rug collection, Craft Settings, which includes seven designs in four qualities from tufted wool to indoor-outdoor designs. The company is also adding the Perennial collection, its first traditional, paste wallpaper designs.

"Both walls and floors have a powerful perspective in grounding a room. They are perfect vehicles to display pattern and texture, two qualities that have always been at the heart of our company," Matthews, chief creative officer, told RugNews.com. "Adding a rug line was a natural extension of our teams’ love of craftsmanship, for beautiful pattern and color."

Many designs from the Crafted Settings collection are inspired by Tempaper & Co.’s best-selling wallpaper prints such as the Moire Dots wallpaper, Pastel Palm design, the Chinoiserie collection and its Swell pattern.

"The rugs and wallpaper designs pair nicely to create a space with a strong visual impact. We also gravitated toward a neutral color palette, so the rugs would fit nearly any home’s aesthetic. We selected hand-woven and hand-tufted rugs offered in 100 percent New Zealand wool and a jute/wool blend because it’s high-quality and can be offered at an accessible price point."

The Crafted Settings Collection Consists of Seven Designs:


Tempaper's Double Dash design is a reversible indoor/outdoor rug of 100 percent recycled polyester fibers.

Diamond Weave: This diamond flatweave rug is hand-woven of a blend of natural jute and wool. Lightweight and durable, the geometric floor covering features a diamond design in a natural colorway. Sizes include 27”x96”, 5x8, 8x10.

Swell: The flatweave Swell rug offers abstract arches in a neutral palette inspired by the brand’s popular Swell wallpaper design. Hand-woven with 100 percent jute and wool, this lightweight floor covering adds beauty to your floor, bringing warmth to entryways, dining rooms, living rooms, and more. Sizes include 27”x96”, 5x8, 8x10.

Abstract Arches: Featuring large abstract arches, the high-quality floor covering is a handwoven blend of natural jute and wool. Lightweight and durable, it makes a statement in any space with oversized shapes inspired by the brand’s Swell wallpaper print. Sizes include 27”x96”, 5x8, 8x10.

Double Dash: The reversible indoor/outdoor Double Dash is made of 100 percent recycled polyester fibers. Featuring a double dash design in a natural colorway, this all-weather rug brings fashion to high-traffic areas including hallways, outdoor patios, and more. Sizes include 27”x96”, 5x8, 8x10.

Peppered Spots: Hand-tufted of 100 percent New Zealand wool, this high-quality rug adds a cozy texture to living rooms, bedrooms, and more. Peppered Spots is inspired by the brand’s popular Moire Dots wallpaper.

Garden Chinoiserie: The brand’s elegant Chinoiserie Garden design is now offered in an indoor/outdoor rug, available in a timeless silver colorway.

Pastel Tropical: This tropical-palm-motif performance rug is inspired by the brand’s Pastel Palm wallpaper, and is available in a versatile bone and black color combination.

In addition to the rug introduction, Tempaper & Co. will debut its first unpasted wallpaper line (Perennial collection), which includes an array of home décor trends on the rise in 2023. These styles include traditional toiles, grasscloths and vintage florals in bold and neutral hues that echo the outdoors. As an extension of this collection, new, real grasscloth prints will also be introduced.
