LAS VEGAS -- New York luxury area rug showroom Rug & Kilim returns to Las Vegas Market in the Expo center reworking its high-end designs at a more attainable price point for upscale buyers.

"We don’t approach markets as more volume-oriented rug exhibitors do,” said Cyrus Nazmiyal, vice president. “We are in the market for the most premier accounts. We’re after the best across the country, so our expectation for a successful show is to open one or two accounts. We view the IMC markets as an opportunity for these upscale retailers and designers to see our designs and our quality first-hand."

Nazmiyal says that Vegas attendees will see a somewhat smaller showing of designs within new collections. “We want them to see the texture, and the quality of our collections. We’ll show them existing styles on I-Pads, and ideas for customization. The target is specialty custom accounts as well as furniture showrooms that deal in custom.”

Inspired by Swedish Deco sensibilities of the early to 20th century, Rug & Kilim's Deco design 25662 features
rich colorations.

Rug & Kilim, which has been in business for decades, entered the wholesale market five or six years ago. “Our production was limited when we began wholesaling, but it’s grown significantly. Now we can feed furniture stores in a significant way,” he explained.

“We’re very value conscious in our product development -- bringing our very high-end principles for rugs that sell from $100 to $200 per square foot to wholesale collections we’ll be showing next week at $10 to $30 per square foot. It’s more of a premium in wholesale. When our product hits a store, they and their clients get an elevated education. It’s very exciting.”

“We aren’t for the handmade rug store that has $1,000-rugs. But $2,500 to $3,000 is right up our alley,” Nazmiyal said.
