Retailers expected to be shopping for trend-driven priced-right rugs at the upcoming New York market.

NEW YORK -- For big box and mass merchant buyers, offering a strong value proposition remains key, and rug players continue to push the envelope with their market introductions for New York Home Fashions Market, running March 23-26.

What's more, retailers continue to seek out area rugs that allow them to present a distinctive assortment to customers and according to rug industry participants, their spring area rug introductions focus on machine-woven collections that deliver value alongside innovative constructions and trend-right styles.

Says Satya Tiwari, president Surya Inc., "Today’s buyers are drawn to rugs that feel storied and authentic — pieces that echo the character of antique heirlooms while offering modern durability. Designs with antique-inspired patterns, layered color, and tactile texture ground spaces while adding unique depth and character. Innovative machine-woven constructions, varied piles and nuanced textures recreate the dimension and character once found only in antique, hand-crafted pieces."

At Momeni, the sentiment is similar and Reza Momeni told RugNews.com, "We expect continued momentum around design-forward collections that balance strong visual impact with practical performance. Our customers are requesting warmth in color, elevated texture, and trend-driven aesthetics, while still prioritizing affordability and long-term durability in terms of style and construction. There’s a clear demand for versatile constructions that work across both residential and high-traffic spaces — rugs that feel directional and refined, yet remain accessible and built for real life."

Mandi Willams, VP of product development & design at OW, reports, "For 2026/2027, our design direction centers on richly layered texture and a strong sense of dimension underfoot. We're leaning into palettes that range from inviting warm neutrals to saturated, earthy hues, creating collections that feel both grounded and expressive. The focus is on delivering designs that offer visual depth and a compelling sensory experience while remaining versatile for today's interiors.

According to Dynamic Rugs’ Matthew Rouhanian, New York Home Fashions Market buyers continue to demand new and exciting machine-made designs. "Buyers are particularly interested in updated patterns, fresh color palettes, and distinctive textures that help differentiate their floors," he said. "There is also continued focus on quality construction at accessible price points, allowing retailers to offer style-driven products without sacrificing value."
