Geared for the hospitality market, Obeetee's BDNY collection, Beautiful World, features updated classics such as Sikaar, debuting at the Javits Center on Nov. 10.

NEW YORK -- Obeetee, a world leader in hand-woven carpets, is unveiling its new BDNY Collection "Beautiful World" for the hospitality market at the Jacob K. Javits Center here, Nov. 10-11.

"The collection was inspired by the beautiful world of contrasts in which we live," said Patricia Ben-Zvi, president of Obeetee, Inc. (Obeetee North America). "We chose to celebrate Obeetee's long-standing tradition of handcrafted rugs by updating our classics with vibrant colors and unexpected modern materials."  The result is fresh, vibrant and new, while still grounded in Obeetee's heritage of craftsmanship.

Offerings include a range of product in designs from color-blocking and abstract painterly compositions to updates on traditional patterns in lively palettes and textured solids. Hand-knotted, hand-tufted and flat-woven constructions are all represented. Fibers range from linen and wool for the solid tufted rugs to polyester used for the flatweaves.

Uzma will be introduced in the Beautiful World collection at the Obeetee BDNY stand #3369.

The collection will be showcased in booth #3369, which pays tribute to the age-old art of rug making with framed antique carpet samples, while maintaining a fresh and modern touch.  The booth will also examine the intersection of craft, technology and sustainability in the much-lauded Parsons X Obeetee collection. This collection explores sensory rugs, touch-activated LED wovens and food waste hybrid materials.

"We wanted to present a variety of designs that reflect the diversity of the boutique hotel industry and commercial environments and underscore Obeetee's ability to serve those markets with forward-looking design and respect for craft coupled with superior production capabilities," concluded Ben-Zvi.

The partnership between the New School's Parsons School of Design and Obeetee is the first of its kind for both Parsons and the rug leader.  Obeetee has been integrated into the first year of the school's newly created MFA Textiles program, which launched in spring 2019, in a formal curricular course called Textiles Industry Partnership. The collaboration affords students the opportunity to work with the Obeetee team to explore new markets, develop colors and patterns, further sustainability efforts and create new design concepts for the global luxury market.

BDNY visitors will see the new Aiza design by Obeetee at the popular fair for hospitality designers.
