SACRAMENT, Calif. -- Mansour Yaghoubian, founder of Mansour's Oriental Rug Gallery, with showrooms in Roseville and Sacramento, died last month at the age of 66.

Yaghoubian, an authority on fine Oriental and Persian rugs, was earned a degree in engineer at CSU Sacramento but soon after graduation realized his original passion for heirloom-quality rugs would be his life’s work. He opened his first rug gallery in 1979.

Yaghoubian grew his area rug business to include two galleries with an inventory of almost 8,000 rugs. He sourced area rugs, which include both antiques and contemporary pieces, from hand-knotting rug capitals of the world: India, Pakistan, China, Iran and Turkey.
