Animal prints get dramatic at the winter European fair and Le Cadeau Berbere' Moroccan design was a showstopper.
FRANKFURT, Germany -- The latest interpretations of animal print area rugs emerged and proved a favorite design trend at the international home textiles event Heimtextil earlier this year.
The newest rug designs are sure to influence American tastes in the coming months. For US audiences 2026 rug and broadloom introductions have typically featured more neutral, lighter tones, while the trend emerging from Europe offers a richer, deeper viewpoint. The latest debuts in the genre on display at Heimtextil from ultra plush tiger-inspired interpretations to cheetah-influenced bordered designs, executed in rich browns, in a range of weaves from hand-knotted interpretations to expertly machine-woven pieces.
Interiors take on an exotic edge in the Ethno Vibes trend vignette from the Deco Team. Pictured is a Paulig Moroccan rug.
In fact, the show's special presentation by the members of the Deco Team staged a series of trend vignettes for the Hall 3.0 Design Lounge and one vignette -- titled Ethno Vibes -- featured a tiger inspired Moroccan rug from Paulig. In addition, Heimtextil's Trend 2026/2027, dubbed Craft is a Verb, presented a range of home textiles in patterns influenced by cheetahs, leopards, tigers and zebras.
