HIGH POINT, N.C. -- Doug Jermyn, former vice president of operations at Samson Holding, is joining the American Home Furnishings Hall of Fame as chief operating officer on April 6.

As COO, a new position at the Hall of Fame, Jermyn will be responsible for all day-to-day administration and operations, including management of the building, human resources and financial reporting. He will report directly to Karen McNeill, CEO of the Hall of Fame. The American Home Furnishings Hall of Fame Foundation, Inc., is an industry-wide organization founded to preserve its history, to celebrate exceptional individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to the U.S. home furnishings industry, to inspire the next generation of innovative leaders and to engage the community with the world of home furnishings.

“Doug brings a unique set of skills to his new role as COO at the Hall of Fame,” said McNeill. “He is a strong leader with a wealth of experience in all facets of operations — from administration, financial and budget responsibilities to human resources and event management. He also is a respected leader among his peers and a good networker. He has demonstrated the high level of integrity needed to preserve the prestige of the Hall of Fame while also possessing the judgment to help us generate new revenues, recruit a strong team and guide the future of the organization.”

In his most recent position as VP of operations at Samson Holding Ltd., parent company of Universal Furniture, Baker, Legacy Classic Furniture, Craftmaster Furniture, and LacquerCraft, Jermyn was responsible for all aspects of end-to-end operations, including distribution, quality, human resources, facility management and negotiations. He also managed a complex domestic and global logistics network, driving quality management initiatives across manufacturing facilities in Vietnam, Bangladesh and Indonesia.

From 2009 to 2022, Jermyn served as chief operating officer at Theodore Alexander USA. In that role, he led a range of key organizational operations, from supply chain management to enterprise resource planning implementation. His work included streamlining work processes to reduce inventory and improve customer service. He also led the operational aspects of a new upholstery line, contributing to the expansion and innovation of the company’s product offerings.

Jermyn started his career as assistant vice president at GE/First Factors Corp. where he served from 1987 to 1995. In 1995, he took a position as director of customer service, credit, claims and quality at Samson Holding, where he served until 2009. A pivotal member of the ERP implementation team, Jermyn led the successful negotiation of a variety of complex agreements and fostered a culture of continuous improvement, leading to substantial cost savings.

“I am honored to join the American Home Furnishings Hall of Fame,” said Jermyn. “Over the years, I have been fortunate to work with incredible people and outstanding companies, and to learn from leaders who have shaped our industry.  I am equally grateful to have worked alongside emerging leaders who represent its present and future and look forward to contributing as a part of a team that will help guide Hall of Fame and support its mission for years to come.”
