DECATUR, GA --  Jim Garner has been named general manager of Sharian, Inc, the 76-year old Oriental rug retailer, cleaning and restoration company.

Garner is the great-grandson of one of the company's founders. He has been with Sharian for 13 years. In his new post, he will be responsible for managing the entire Sharian facility, including the retail showroom and cleaning and restoration services. He is also responsible for pay roll, accounts payable and purchasing.

"I have been working at Sharian since I was a teenager. It is exciting to see and help make innovative changes to the family business, while at the same time making sure our traditions are preserved and our customers remain happy,€VbCrLf said Garner.

Garner recently became certified as a Master Rug Cleaner after participating in an intense program that includes technical analysis of rugs and the cleaning methods associated with them. The program is sponsored by Oriental Rug Cleaning Co., a 96-year old rug retailer with cleaning and restorations services, in Dallas, TX.

Garner is a graduate of the University of Georgia with a degree in Economics. He is alsos on the Textile Council of the Restoration Industry Association.

Sharian, Inc. was founded in 1931 by Bedros and Varthouhi Sharian and now managed and operated by four generations of the Sharian family. In addition to its Decatur facility, Sharian also has a showroom at the Atlanta Decorative Arts Center (ADAC). The company offers cleaning and restoration services in addition to its retail business.
