HANNOVER, GERMANY - The submissions process for the 2016 Carpet Design
Awards is underway. Designers of exclusive hand-made carpets and rugs
have until November 3, 2015
to submit their entries for consideration. In 2016, prizes will be
awarded in eight categories. The Carpet Design Awards are regarded as
the top international accolade for quality hand-made carpets and rugs.
They set the standards worldwide in terms of design and quality. The
winners will be announced at the upcoming DOMOTEX on Sunday, January 17,
2016, at the Innovations@DOMOTEX area in Hall 17.
For the second time, the Carpet Design Awards will be presented as part
of Innovations@DOMOTEX. This prestigious international competition
offers DOMOTEX exhibitors a fantastic opportunity to make an even bigger
impact at the show. "DOMOTEX is the premier global showcase for the
latest developments in carpet design. Many new trends in carpets and
rugs and interior furnishing can be traced back to Hannover, and they
just take off from there. At the Carpet Design Awards there are always a
host of new designs and production techniques to be discovered. That’s
why DOMOTEX and the Carpet Design Awards are so important for the
industry," says Ben Evans, editor at Hali Publications in the UK, which
has been a partner for the Carpet Design Awards for the past 11 years.
There is no charge for entering the competition. Each
entrant can submit up to three designs per category. The
competition is open to registered DOMOTEX exhibitors only, with the one
exception of the category "Best Studio Artist Design", which is also
open to non-exhibitors.
Two-stage selection process
In mid-November the jury will then select three carpets in each of eight
categories from all the entries submitted. The judges will assess the
entries for design and design concept, materials, execution, texture,
composition and quality, as well as sustainability and branding. The
24 carpets chosen to go forward to the final round will be exhibited in
the Innovations@DOMOTEX area in Hall 17. On
January 15, 2016 the jury will then select one winner in each category. The
successful finalists will be formally presented with their awards on the
Sunday of the show, January 17, 2016.
