DALTON, GA --  Mike Thompson, has been named director of  the  U.S. rug business of Millennium Weavers, a newly formed brand of the Al-Sorayai Trading Group, a floor covering, textiles and home furnishings manufacturer headquartered in Saudi Arabia.

Thompson has extensive experience in both the retail and wholesales sectors of the rug business. Most recently, he was owner and manager of The Rug Rack, a retail business in Chattanooga, TN. Miriam Thompson has now assumed full management duties at The Rug Rack, according to Thompson.

Earlier, Thompson spent 16 years with Shaw Rugs in sales management.

 â€œI’m excited about the diverse team, the resources we can draw upon and the opportunities that are ahead of us,” Thompson said.

“The products we are bringing to market are unique and offer colors and styles that will really turn some heads. We’re in a very good position to partner with distributors and retailers that are looking for innovative products and top customer service."

Leading the Millennium Weavers management team is Jefferson C. (Jeff) Knott,  president and chief executive officer. Knott is an expert in international startups of new brands and concepts, most notably at Johnson & Johnson, the global medical company, and as senior vice president, International of RoomsToGo Corp.

 â€œWe are poised to make a significant impact in the area rug market based on the response we have already received from customers and suppliers alike. We will continue to pursue prudent growth through alliances and our own parent company’s unique manufacturing capabilities and resources,” said Knott.

Rickey Mullins, senior vice president,  will lead the company’s worldwide business development and operations.  After 19 years with Horizon Carpets, Mullins headed up the development and day to day operations of Al-Sorayai’s manufacturing operations for 17 years.
