LIORA MANNE PARTNERS WITH ARTIST ANNE SPALTER FOR MIXED MEDIA COLLECTION

Liora Manné and artist Anne Spalter's collaboration for Lamontage rugs and wall coverings decorate the designer's  D&D Building showroom for the line's launch on June 8.

NEW YORK -- New York-based designer Liora Manné joins functionality with fine art in the debuting Cosmic Cabanas collection, a cross-media collaboration between Manné and world-renowned digital artist Anne Spalter.

The new line of designs marries Spalter's psychedelic digital landscapes with Manné's patented Lamontage felting process, and will be offered in a full range of interior textiles products.  To launch the collection, Liora Manné is hosting an opening reception on June 8, from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. at her namesake trade-only D&D Building showroom.

Designer Liora Manné takes her patented Lamontage process to a avant-garde level of digital artistry.

"We are targeting the interior design world and art collectors with the six patterns initially being produced," Liora Manné told RugNews.com. "Each of these patterns can be transformed into rugs, wallcoverings, fabrics, pillows and framed works of art."

Manné's Lamontage process is a textile production method that combines the ancient art of felting with modern technology, and is offered in programmed and custom designs for commercial and hospitality installations as well as residential interiors. The Lamontage range of rugs and interior textiles are manufactured in China of 100 percent polyester, and are suitable for indoor and outdoor use.

A world-renowned digital mixed-media artist, Spalter is an academic pioneer who founded the Rhode Island School of Design's original digital fine arts program in the 1990s. The collaboration with Manné draws on source footage from a beachside vacation, and the resulting Cosmic Cabanas evokes a relatable sensory experience that joins functionality and fine art.

The collection, made in China of  polyester, is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.

"Anne and I met about three years ago at a Lower East side gallery when our work was exhibited in a group show," Manné said. "I fell in love with her work and the creative process that she developed. She loved the range of my products and the unique process of making Lamontage. We both truly enjoying pushing the limits of the mediums that we play and work with and had discussed a collaboration for quite some time."

The launch will also feature a media component, whereby reception attendees will be able to download an app to bring the experience fully 360. By using the app, they can take a photo of the rug and that rug will transform on their phone into the original moving piece of artwork by Spalter.

In addition to the to the trade designer collections featured in her D&D showroom, Liora Manne  also designs all the rugs for retail rug supplier Trans-Ocean.
