MOMENI TO INTRODUCE ANTIQUES ROADSHOW LICENSED RUGS

NEW YORK -- Momeni, Inc., will introduce new  rug collections this Spring under a licensing agreement with Antiques Roadshow, the popular television series. This is the first licensed line for the rug importer and manufacturer.

Momeni will debut the Antiques Roadshow Estate collection at the International Home Furnishings Market in April. (IHFC D-308).  A portion of the proceeds  will help support public television.

The Estate line  will be based on archives from  Antiques Roadshow, as well as from antiques and family heirlooms from the Momeni library.

The rugs will be made in various constructions, including handhooked and wool and silk hand tufted products  retailing for $470 and $720 for 5x8 size.

"This collection is unique because the rugs are based on real antiques, real people and real stories. The designs work in tandem with the pieces offered by the various other companies involved in the Antiques Roadshow partnership," according to Reza Momeni, president of Momeni.

Other companies participating in the liicensing program includePulaski Furniture, Dale Tiffany lamps, and Southern Furniture.

Momeni said the company is approaching the design of the Antiques Roadshow collections  with the same philosophy it uses in  creating its own lines: A respect for the rich historic traditions of the rug industry.

" Even our most contemporary collections contain elements of the past, whether in color palettes, design motifs, or construction. All things present are linked somehow to the past," Momeni said.

Antiques Roadshow is the most popular program on public television, and its appeal is universal. The show has more than 10 million viewers weekly.

" In keeping with our educational mission, each  rug has been historically researched and captures the artistry of a particular time and place with impeccable attention to detail," said Betsy Groban, managing director of WGBH Enterprises, which produces the television series.

Antiques Roadshow is a trademark of the BBC and is produced for PBS by WGBH/Boston under license from BBC Worldwide.
