Kalaty Debuts First Accent Pillow Collection at AT Market

HICKSVILLE, NY - Kalaty Rug Corporation will launch a new accent pillow program designed to coordinate with the company's popular flatweave Soumak area rugs at summer markets. This pillow program is the company's first home accent introduction outside of high-end handcrafted area rugs.

At the summer Atlanta International Rug Market and the Las Vegas Market, Kalaty will show two pillow cover sizes - 22"x22" and 14"x 22" - each in eight different Soumak designs that are made of 100% premium hand-knotted wool. Because of the weaving process, Kalaty's versatile, reversible Soumak rugs offer two different textured sides to choose from, and the company has chosen to feature the multi-textural herringbone-weave side for these ruggedly handsome accent pillows.

"Pillows are a natural extension of our flatweave rugs, offering us a way to move into the home accent arena," says Farshad Kalaty, a principal of Kalaty Rugs. "For this initial collection, we chose to feature Soumak pillow designs in Southwestern and tribal motifs that are easily incorporated into today's popular 'global' interiors. It is our hope to expand into more pillow collections at future markets, and perhaps even into other furniture-related items using our rugs. However, that would be at a future date. For now, we feel that our dealers, interior designers and consumers will appreciate the multiple uses for our Soumak pillows - as ideal accents for leather upholstery as well as a number of decorative uses in casual family rooms everywhere."
