SAFAVIEH ANNOUNCES RUG DESIGN COMPETITION FOR IFDA MEMBERS

NEW YORK -- Safavieh has launched an area rug design competition open to all members of The International Furnishings & Design Association, (IFDA), according to Arash Yaraghi, a Safavieh principal.
The competition was announced at an event this week presented by Jame Drake and the IFDA New York Chapter. Approximately 100 design professionals gathered at the Safavieh Home store in New York which honored the Rising Stars and Starlets of Interior Design.
Jamie Drake, who was inducted into the Interior Design Hall of Fame in 2003, designs a signature collection for Safavieh's Couture division of fine rugs.
Arash Yaraghi of Safavieh and Jamie Drake will be judges of the rug design competition, which is open to members of the IFDA trade organization. Deadline for entries is Jan. 25, 2011. Winners will be announced Monday, Feb. 28, 2011.
The objective of the contest is to acknowledge outstanding achievement in original design by IFDA members.
Entries will be judged on originality of design, production potential and marketability to a broad base of lifestyle consumers.
Safavieh will produce the winning design in a 6’x9’ rug and present it to the designer in addition to a check for $500.
The IFDA is a trade organization for professionals and companies involved in the design, production, distribution, promotion, communication or education in the home fashions industry.
