 Winners all
This year's awards were unusual because four companies were multiple winners in different categories: Karastan, Couristan, F.J. Kashanian and Marcella Fine Rugs.
The rugs were judged by three independent textiles and design experts outside the rug industry. The rugs were on display during the market (without company identification) in AmericasMart's Museum of Introductions.
...AND A GOOD TIME WAS HAD BY ALL
Maria King of Couristan with Chas Sydney, senior vice president of AmericasMart. Couristan won two of the four awards in the machine made category.
Anne Carley, center, with Bill Storey, left, executive vice president of Karastan and host Chas Sydney of AmericasMart.
Two-fisted winner Jonathon Kashanian of FJ Kashanian, which received two awards in the hand made category.
Maria Conrad, rug buyer for Bloomingdale's, with Bill Storey of Karastan. Maria told us she gifted Bill with that lucky pink tie. Obviously, it worked.
Don Newton, left, Kas's new vice president of sales and marketing, with Rao Yarlagadda, president of Kas, and David Harounian, a principal of Harounian Rugs International.
Ray Hashemi, Feizy VP of Sales, Division II, with New Orleans retailers Ferial and Fred Bokaei of Bokaei Rug Gallery. Bokaei is celebrating it's first anniversary this month.
