ATLANTA -
Safavieh reported a strong showing of key customers at the Atlanta
International Area Rug Market last week, and increased demand for the
company's diverse offering of vintage-look erased-weave collections.
"Atlanta is always a strong market for us because we book appointments
in advance," said Safavieh CEO Arash Yaraghi. "We had a great response
from buyers to our deconstructed Persian designs that look faded and
vintage; the trend is becoming popular in all price points, and in every
category from hand-knotted to machine loomed rugs."
"Safavieh
introduced a few new collections along this theme, and will continue to
expand our most successful collections." The company unveiled the
knotted wool Vinyard collection, which Yaraghi said has a rich tapestry
quality, with some designs styled with the look of watercolor paintings.
The Evoke collection, also in the deconstructed vintage theme, is
machine loomed of high-twist polypropylene yarns. New designs were
added to the wool and silk hand-knotted Centennial collection
commemorating the company's 100th anniversary ($11,800 for
6x9) and to the Centennial 100 series hand woven of wool and bamboo silk
($1,999 for 6x9).

The
Artisan and Lavar Kerman collections were shown in Atlanta for the first
time, both inspired by antique Persian rugs, and machined loomed in
Turkey of cotton, jute and polypropylene fiber.
"We were
thrilled to see so much interest in the new product, as well as our
staples. We are also seeing traction in our designer collections and are
pursuing new designs from several of our design partners. It's been a
big year for Safavieh, our strongest ever in fact."
