HARLOW JOINS
TRANS-OCEAN
 AS VP OF MERCHANDISING

WHITE PLAINS, NY--- Linda Harlow has joined Trans-Ocean Inc. as vice president of merchandising, according to Charles Peck, president.

 

In this newly created position, she will spearhead Trans-Ocean¹s product development and sourcing efforts.

"Harlow is one of the most widely respected and recognized professionals in the area rug industry today. Her vast experience on both the retail and wholesale sides of the business ensures that she will make a strong contribution to our management team and allow us to more rapidly develop our wide variety of licensed lines," said Peck.  "Her talent and insights will be immeasurably valuable as we move forward into new areas of opportunity."

"I am delighted to be working with a long-established company like Trans-Ocean which has well developed sources and great relationships with manufacturers overseas,"  Harlow observed. "I look forward to the opportunity of working with Trans-Ocean¹s designers and licencees but especially with Liora Manné, whom I consider to be the best designer in the market."

A veteran of almost 30 years in merchandising,  Harlow most recently held the position of managing director of handmade rugs for Oriental Weavers-Sphinx were she launched the company¹s entry into the category.

 

Prior to her tenure with Sphinx, Harlow was rug buyer at Macy¹s West. Harlow will continue to be based in San Francisco.

Trans-Ocean is an importer of area rugs from around the world. In recent months, the company has strengthened its design leadership position by  expanding its licensed collections.

 

Three new licensed lines include rugs by Lillian August, Kelly Hoppen and Winterthur Museum. In addition, Trans Ocean has expanded its commitment to the work of lifestyle designer Liora Manne.
