RH Estates' Mia rug, hand-knotted of wool and silk in India, retails for $11,425.
CORTE MADERA, Calif. -- RH launches its new RH Estates division that was previewed in April at the company's new Milan showroom. RH Estates re-issues several oeuvres from iconic designer Michael Taylor, recognized as the father of the California look. It also includes reproductions of renowned Los Angeles furniture and accessories label Formations and the classical grandeur of couture furniture atelier Dennis & Leen, also based in LA, and both recently acquired by RH. The collection launch includes namesake pieces by London designer Anouska Hempel and the artisanal reproduction atelier Van Thiel & Co., a family business founded in the Netherlands and now based in Vietnam
The program also includes the debut of RH Bespoke Furniture, which allows interior designers and clients to specify custom sizes and finishes, and RH Couture Upholstery by Dmitriy & Co, a high-end tailor-made upholstery maker, also recently purchased by RH, which offers finely crafted, tailor-made seating. What's more the company announced that it will open its first stand-alone gallery in Greenwich, Connecticut.
"We are giving designers and consumers the creative freedom to specify custom sizes and fabrics for sofas, sectionals, chairs, ottomans and beds," the company stated in a release. "You source the fabric from anywhere in the world; we provide atelier level construction and craftsmanship."
The inaugural Estates sourcebook showcases over 165 collections spanning furniture, lighting, rugs, textiles, décor and outdoor, and also includes the introductions of RH Couture Upholstery and RH Bespoke Furniture. The program launches at RH Design Galleries across North America, Europe and the United Kingdom, including RH Milan and RH London. It will also debut in forthcoming standalone locations in Greenwich, Connecticut, and West Hollywood, California.
RH founder and CEO Gary Friedman commented, "With the launch of RH Estates, we are removing the barriers that have segregated taste from scale, eliminating the creative limitations that have historically forced designers to choose between our scale and the uncompromising specificity of trade-only showrooms. We believe the ability to scale taste creates higher quality and greater value for both the customer and the designer."
