HOUSTON -- Design atelier Madison Lily Rugs announces a new collaboration with renowned international designer Benjamin Johnston, to launch Fall 2020 at their Houston showroom and at select dealers in Dallas, San Francisco and Los Angeles.

The Benjamin Johnston Collection for Madison Lily Rugs continues the company's 25-year tradition of crafting luxurious hand-knotted rugs that strike a balance between beauty, craftsmanship and function. Noted Johnston, "These designs are essentially art installations ... so impactful and exquisite that I imagine many collectors will not only use them underfoot, but will also hang them on their walls. I envision them as the moody backdrop to chic lounges, lavish dining spaces, and jaw-dropping grand foyers."

Hand-knot rug atelier Madison Lily Rugs debuts the first rugs in the Flight series designed by Benjamin Johnston this fall. Shown, Divine Plumage in sepia.

The first part of the collection, known simply as "Flight," features the motif of exotic plumage that underscores Johnston's uncanny eye for unexpected natural textures and his keen interest in the world we call home. The sweeping array of feathers are rendered in over 20 high-definition saturated colors including citrus, lapis, saffron and teal combined with shaded accent tones that lend each rug a luxurious three-dimensional quality suggesting it could very well take to the air. They are handmade from 60 percent to 80 percent Chinese silk and 20 percent to 40 percent high-mountain wool and come in standard sizes of 8x10 ($11,200), 9x12 ($15,120), and 10x14 ($19,600) with custom sizes available upon request.
In Spring 2021, Benjamin will release the second piece of his collection entitled "Geometrica" with designs that respond to his background in architecture. These full-bleed rugs will boast bold graphic patterns and will be crafted from hand-spun Chinese silk and hand-carded high mountain wool. Each rug is step-dyed using up to 30 colors of thread while intricate stippling and sculpted levels creates striking variations in texture and luster. Retail pricing will range from $140-$150 per square foot with trade discounts available.
