It’s a Wrap: 2025’s Best-Selling Rugs

Rug makers share their best hits of 2025.

SPECIAL REPORT -- A cross-section of area rug players, from machine-made specialists to hand-knot experts, reveal the biggest area rug hits of 2025.

The year's top sellers include everything from indoor-outdoor fashion-forward introductions to exquisite hand-knotted. Top design trends weighted heavily toward updated traditional motifs in neutral palettes and more color-rich designs. Close runners-up include abstract designs with dominant sellers in earthy toned neutral palettes or trending blues, and minimalist geometric motifs, in earthy colorations.

In this industry special year-end report, RugNews.com dives into the market's 2025 favorites and details the reasons why they scored with retailers, designers – and consumers.

AMER


Amer's Craft CRA-1 in ice blue

For Amer to sellers included updated traditional designs in directional neutral palettes and one of the year's biggest hits is from its popular Craft collection. Rolled out in 2025 the lineup is crafted of 100 percent raw hand-spun New Zealand wool rugs, oxidized to impart a vintage look. Another winner is Nimbus, a hand-tufted wool rug collection that’s part of the company’s Sealy licensing partnership. Offering high-low flowing organic motifs, these rugs feature a loop and cut pile weave in earthy neutral colorations.

Other runners-up include Mexico, hand-hooked of New Zealand wool featuring a tone-on-tone abstracted ribbed pattern, and its heirloom quality Ensemble, hand knotted of wool and silk and artistic abstract designs, which proved a hit with designers seeking statement pieces.

Art Resources' Souf AR14E75

Known as the go-to source for tribal looks from Morocco to the American Southwest, Los Angeles based Art Resources’ winners skewed heavily to its programmed Moroccan and Sante Fe collections. According to the company’s Max Moussavi, California was the top state for its Sante Fe rugs this year. “In the past, sales of this collection were primarily for Spanish style homes in Arizona and New Mexico. Now it’s Sante Fe moves to California – classic, simple and more modern interiors.”

The Souf collection, also tribal, was a best-seller, as was the Marrakesh lineup. All of the company’s top 2025 rugs are hand-knotted, most in100 percent wool, others in wool and silk, like the highly successful Emerald collection featuring artful transitional and contemporary designs.

COURISTAN


Couristan's Hudson 3502/1302 fulton/ice blue

"We have two best-sellers from one of our 2025 collection introductions, Hudson," said Larry Mahurter, SVP, marketing and advertising. Hand-knotted of the softest wool, this collection resembles the ironwork of a skyscraper on a fall morning. “It’s a special collection dedicated to a special city.”

The Hudson collection, inspired by New York City, is a series of linear abstract patterns hand-knotted in a wool, with a casual 3/20 quality. Crafted of space-dyed yarns, the designs offer subtle textures, dimension and contemporary styling.

DYNAMIC RUGS


Dynamic Rugs' Ancient Garden 57008-3233

Dynamic Rugs' bestseller hails from the company's long-running Ancient Garden collection of traditional designs, which also includes round rugs and runners. The line continues to perform strongly for the company, and the 2025 favorite Ancient Garden design (57008-3233 in multi) features a Kerman panel motif in warm earthy tones and cool blue. These rugs are power-loomed in Belgium of Decolan, a fine, wool-like heat set polypropylene, for a handmade look and feel.

Two other standouts are Sequence 18503-400, an abstract pattern rendered in popular green tones; and Quartz 27073-100, which offers a soft tonal beige distressed traditional pattern woven of viscose with a special form of shrink polyester to create a high-low texture, and the look and feel of a hand-knotted wool rug.

FEIZY


Feizy's Killian 6970L Black-Green

One of Feizy's 2025 bestsellers is from its fine hand-knotted Killian collection, which offers bold, traditional designs, crafted of wool. Each piece is handmade with natural vegetable dyes, creating unique color variations that speak to the collection’s artisanal quality. Another 2025 favorite is Gia, a premium hand-knotted rug collection, which is woven from a mix of Ghazni and New Zealand wools and viscose. The line showcases abstract modern designs with a textured cut and loop pile, and the favorite design features a chic combination of gray, purple and gold.

HAROUNIAN RUGS INTERNATIONAL (HRI)


HRI's Cartoon 30 in ivory

HRI's Carlton collection proved a 2025 standout with design 30 in ivory the top choice with designers and retailers. These rugs are cross woven on Wilton looms from Pakistan in fine Gazni wool, finished by hand and washed. Other favorites from Harounian Rugs International include Faberge, design FG-2 soft sepia, hand-knotted in a tight low-profile pile of fine New Zealand wool; and the Charlotte collection, a series of high-end contemporary on-trend abstract designs knotted in premium quality fibers."

KALATY


Kalaty's LimaLA1510 in green

Among the Kalaty bestsellers for 2025 is the 100 percent premium wool hand-knotted Lima collection, which features modern on point colors and updated Oushak styles. Also a hit for this year was its hand-finished Luxe-Weave machine-woven lineup of rugs with the abstract designs of the Ventura collection a 2025 favorite. The standout was Ventura VN1393, which is crafted of 100 percent New Zealand wool, hand-carved in popular modern gray tones mixed with neutrals. Finally, a vintage blue design from the company's K-Two category, Umbria US-118, performed well. It is hand knotted of 100 percent wool.

KARASTAN


Karastan's Tryst Vinci in cream

“Our top-selling rug category for 2025 continues to be machine-woven, low-profile rugs, particularly those crafted with polyester and polyester-blend yarns," Craig Trimble, Karastan VP sales, told RugNews.com. "Collections like Adalia, Memento, Marash, and Tryst are performing especially well, reflecting strong demand for rugs that balance refined design with everyday functionality. Customers are drawn to their sleek, low-profile construction, soft hand, durability, and easy care, making them ideal for both high-traffic residential spaces and layered interiors."

Notable standouts include uber-soft Marash's Ankara gray design, inspired by modern abstract art and a palette featuring calming hues of silver, blue, and beige. Another bestseller is Tryst's Vinci cream, a warm neutral traditional pattern, with a dense, soft feel underfoot.

LAVIN

“Our best-selling rugs share a common thread: elevated design that’s made to live beautifully in real homes," noted Michael Castell, director of sales. "The Tamara Day collections, including Natural Luxe and Timeless Luxe, resonate because they offer a refined, timeless look with strong craftsmanship and durability—delivering a sense of luxury that feels approachable rather than precious.”
Castell added, "Lavin-branded styles like Myra and Laila perform well because they pair versatile, modern design with true performance, whether indoors or outdoors."

LOLOI


Loloi's Heritage HER-02

Loloi’s best-selling collections in 2025 include Heritage and Granada. "Heritage is a groundbreaking collection introduced in 2024 using a completely new machine-made construction that emulates a vintage handmade look. It’s been an instant best seller since it launched," Cyrus Loloi said. The hand-knotted Granada collection, featuring updated traditional patterns in a modern palette, was introduced in 2025 and scored high for its timeless looks. "We’re focused on keeping this one in stock," Loloi added, noting that the Heirloom collection, a forever classic collection hand-knotted of the highest quality wool, was among the top sellers for the year as well.

MOMENI


Momeni's Bibury BIB-3 in pink

Momeni focused on filling market gaps and staying one step ahead of trends, resulting in bestsellers in several categories. The company’s runaway hit collection, Bilbury resonated with buyers at the recent High Point Market for its fresh colorways and whimsical botanical repeat motif. The machine-made collection is woven of 50 percent nylon and 50 percent wool in a pastel palette with a whimsical botanical repeat for a touch of nostalgia. The performance Icon collection by the Novogratz from Momeni scored because of its bold colors and modern contemporary geometric pattern. Other Momeni hits included the 100 percent hand-tufted wool Archer collection in navy blue, with its cream-colored blocks.

The Orchard collection design 9 by Erin Gates for Momeni, woven of 70 percent jute, 20 percent wool and 10 percent cotton, was a top choice for its classic black check. Another updated classic pattern, Bristol design 9 offered an on point traditional rug motif in blue colorations.

NOURISON HOME


Nourison Home's Prismatic PS39

Nourison Home's Prismatic collection remains one of the company's strongest performers, hitting the company’s top seller list again for 2025. This long-running favorite features bold colors and abstract motifs with dimensional texture. Hand-tufted with wool and silk-like Luxcelle, Prismatic offers a plush dense pile. This year, the company's long-running in-out Aloha collection also continues to top the charts, as does the Rustic Textures collection, which offers soft neutral colorways and modern abstract looks.

“Our Aloha collection was once again a top seller because customers love its durability, easy-care construction, and cheerful patterns, explained Feryal Rehman, vice president – marketing, Nourison. "The versatility to use these rugs year-round has made this collection a consistent favorite." Nourison Home's Rustic Textures performed strongly due to its soft neutral palettes, modern abstract patterns and approachable price point, Rehman said.

ORIENTAL WEAVERS


OW's Acacia aca03

Among the OW 2025 bestsellers, the machine-woven Acacia collection of classically styled motifs in earthy, neutral tones is woven in a space-dyed wool and nylon blend on an Axminster loom. Another updated traditional lineup, the Lola collection is machine-woven from 100 percent polyester and earned top billing for its Oushak-inspired patterns in warm neutrals, its hi-low texture, and detailed hand-knotted appearance.

Finally, Tisdell was a big success for its modern and organic abstract designs, machine-woven of vibrantly colored and super soft space-dyed polyester.

S&H RUGS


S&H Rugs Sultanabad Reimagined sh75795

S&H Rugs saw success with its hand-knotted Oushak and Peshawar rugs as well as designs from its hand-knotted Modern and Contemporary collection. Featuring large-scale floral motifs, botanical patterns, and open designs inspired by traditional Turkish and Afghan weaving traditions, the updated traditional patters remained a 2025 favorite. As a counterpoint, designs from its Modern and Contemporary collection were favorites for their clean lines, abstract patterns and geometric designs.

The company reported three top standouts for the year: sh75795 Sultanabad Reimagined with a cropped pile colored with vegetable dyes and woven of pure organic wool; the modern erased Persian design sh92082 crafted of sari silk offering 17 different color shades; and sh1972, a peach-colored Anatolian village design woven in a Turkish knot and sheared low.

SURYA


Surya's Agra AAA2301-810

At Surya, the new hand-knotted Agra collection, with an MSRP in 6x9 of $4,050, quickly climbed to the top of the charts for the collection’s softly aged color story and intricate traditional patterns in updated colorways and luxury wool weave. Another hit, Surya's Savannah collection, also hand knotted of wool, offers tonal neutral traditional motifs with an MSRP in 6x9 of $2,170. This collection resonated for its tone-on-tone designs and attainable price point.

Lastly, Surya's hand-knotted Indiana collection of understated linear and geometric patterns scored with market shoppers seeking contemporary minimalist designs in easy to decorate with neutral colors.
