ICFF's Raw Exhibition to Feature New Designers

4/20/2004

NEW YORK -- The International Contemporary Furniture Fair will showcase rising designers in an exhibition called RAW: The Next Generation.

The ICFF will be held in the Jacob Javits convention center, May 15 to 18. The exhibition will cover several thousand square feet of the North Pavilion of ICFF.

RAW is designed and curated by Marco Pasanella, an architect, designer, writer and scholar. It will include work by approximately 40 designers worldwide  who exemplify the "next generation€VbCrLf of designers and thinkers who shape the way we live and work.

RAW has been developed in conjunction with Metropolis magazine's Next Generation competition which annually  awards $10,000 to an emerging designer who shows particular promise in both design and entrepreneurship.

The exhibition will include everything from objects to environments, breakthrough product concepts to revolutionary urban planning ideas, according to George Little Management, which organizes the annual ICFF show.

The  exhibition will be juried by Susan Szenasy,  Metropolis editor-in-chief; Robert Thiemann, editor of Frame magazine, Sandy Chilewich of Chilewich, Scott Henderson of Smart Design; and others.
The  jurors will select designers in several categories who will be awarded a free booth at the 2005 ICFF.

This year marks the 17th edition of the International Contemporary Furniture Fair, which  has
become a  leading event for modern and contemporary design. Last year, over 17,000 visitors attended the fair, which featured over 450  manufacturers of contemporary design from more than 20 countries.
