NEW YORK -- The prestigious NYCxDesign Awards announced the 2018 winners with Mirage by GAN taking home the gold in the Residential Flooring category, and Aronson's Floor Covering's Empire Collection x Ghislaine Viñas' nabbing first in the Contract Flooring segment.
The winners of the global design competition celebrating outstanding achievement across major areas of design exhibited during the hundreds of events that comprise NYCxDesign 2018. NYCxDesign Awards are open to products from companies exhibiting at affiliated shows including ICFF, WantedDesign, Collective Design, BKLYN Designs, and Sight Unseen Offsite, as well as products shown in NYC-based showrooms, design centers, design districts or temporary installations.
Submissions were reviewed by a jury of design industry leaders and the winners of the awards were unveiled and recognized at a ceremony and party held yesterday, May 21, at the newly renovated Pier 17 at NYC's South Street Seaport.
RESIDENTIAL FLOORING
Gan's Gan's award-winning Mirage collection of hand-knotted rugs created by renowned designer Patricia Urquiola updates the basketweave with a dynamic geometric motif featuring ombre-like color schemes and unexpected shapes.

Honorees in the Residential Flooring category include Aker by Kasthall, Blur by Nanimarquina, and KO2 by Now Carpets.
Aker by Kasthall was an honoree in the NYCxDesign Awards 2018. The limited edition tufted rug features horizontal block stripes of different textures, colors and technique -- cut and loop pile, cut pile and bouclé pile, crafted of a mixture of linen, wool and mélange yarns.
Blur designed by Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec for Nanimarquina was among the top Residential Flooring designs at the NYCxDesign Awards 2018.
KO2 by designer Francesc Rife forNow Carpets was a 2018 NYCxDesign honoree in the Residential Flooring category. The rugs are hand-tufted in 100 percent bamboo silk in as many as 45 gradient colors.
CONTRACT FLOORING
In the Contract Flooring category, Aronson's Floor Covering's just-introduced Empire Collection, its inaugural collaboration with designer Ghislaine Viñas, was the winner in the 2018 competition. Finalists are Market Fringe by Chilewich, Nutopia by Mohawk Group and Deconstructed Metal by Patcraft.
