CHICAGO -- Crate and Barrel rolls out a new cross-category furniture collection that draws inspiration from modern design cities and kicks off with the Danish capital Copenhagen.

Trove features bold silhouettes, striking color and a just-right balance of function and fun. Skilled artisans employ random shearing to create a rug with a combination of piled and looped textures.

Classic modern silhouettes get a Danish modern update in Crate and Barrel's new Trove collection.

“We created this collection for evolving lifestyles," said Sebastian Brauer, VP product design, Crate and Barrel. "Modular furniture for small spaces, tables with petite footprints, patterns and textures that bring vibrancy to all kinds of rooms.

Among the area rugs featured in this revisiting of modern Danish designs is Belagga, which is printed by hand with washes of pink, blue, black and neutrals that bleed and blend into one another. These rugs are made of soft viscose for a glossy look and plush feel underfoot.

Crate and Barrel's Surina rug reworks classic Persian rugs in an ultra-modern tonal blue interpretation.

The Cade wool rug from the Trove collection from Crate and Barrel features a bold geometric design in a playful palette that includes mustard  and blush.
