COURISTAN EXPECTS GOOD VEGAS MARKET WITH STRONG NEW PRODUCTS

LAS VEGAS -- Couristan, which is offering summer shoppers new collections and additions to popular ranges, anticipates a good market and strong finish to 2017, Mark Ferullo, vice president of area rugs, told RugNews.com.
"We expect a good market," Ferullo said. "Our new introductions in Atlanta were very well received and we look forward to showing those to the attendees in Las Vegas. It is all about value and color, along with a variety of design aesthetics, and we feel we have some nice things to offer with our updated assortments."
The Atlanta International Gift & Home Furnishings Market earlier this month, despite its slower seasonal pace, still proved fruitful for the company. "Atlanta was a good market when looking at the programs placed and the quality time spent with each account that was there. Traffic was typical for a summer market, but the players that were there had things they wanted to accomplish and we helped achieve these goals," Ferullo continued.
Couristan debuted the Boho-chic 64-color machine-made Gypsy collection in Atlanta, seen here from the company's AmericasMart showroom windows. "We had requests for traditional, casual, color, Moroccan and textures in Atlanta, so there is a healthy appetite for variety out there right now," he added. The Fort Lee, New Jersey, company in January opened a permanent showroom at the Las Vegas Market, located on the 4th floor in Building A, Space A-408 (read full story). Ferullo anticipates that Vegas will help move the company toward a strong finish for 2017. "We expect to build on the growth we have experienced and are targeting a 25 percent increase in sales for the balance of 2017. We are very excited for this fall. The best-sellers for us are a $399 to $799 in 8x11 price point: value conscious with great colors and design." For shoppers in Vegas, the latest area rug designs are in a range of constructions from handmade to machine-made and include Crawford, Easton and Oasis. Plus the company grows its popular indoor-outdoor hand-hooked Covington collection with new playful designs. In addition, retailers should keep an eye out for the just-released machine-made Gypsy collection -- a 64-color, cross-woven polypropylene retailing at $299 in 8x10. "It was very well received in Atlanta, as was our heat-set polypropylene high-low Calinda collection (made in Turkey) that feels so soft and luxurious," Ferullo said. CRAWFORD
Couristan introduces Crawford, a hand-tufted wool-nylon blend, for Las Vegas Market shoppers.
The hand-tufted, washed Crawford collection from Couristan is crafted from an 80/20 wool-nylon blend. Available in 13 choices, the rugs feature a very dense tufted loop pile. Available in 3x5, 5x8, 8x10 and 2x8 runner, Crawford's suggested retail is $199 in 5x8 and $399 in 8x10. OASIS
The hand-made ombre-style Oasis collection features a space-dyed European wool in a Gabbeh texture. Shown, style 6859/1594. Couristan's eclectic Oasis collection, featuring an extra heavy luxe pile, is inspired by nomadic Gabbeh designs and hand-crafted of semi-twisted European wool to recreate the effects of the uneven dyeing process used in the original Persian Gabbeh rugs. The yarn creates an dense pile and a variety of shades in each hue. Easton, made of ultra-fine heat-set Courtron polypropylene, features a face-to-face Wilton weave power-loomed in Belgium in one million points of yarn per square meter. Easton designs are created using a multi-point and loom-carved technique with a soft finish and subtle abrash effect. Designs represent a fusion of modern European and classic design elements to appeal to a wide array of decorating tastes with patterns ranging from large-scale floral motifs to contemporary abstract patterns. Sizes include 2' x 3'7", 3'11" x 5'3", 5'3" x 7'6", 6'6" x 9'6", 7'10" x 11'2", 9'2" x 12'5", 2'7" x 7'10" runner, and it's MSRP is $299 in 5'3" x 7'6".
COVINGTON
Designed for indoor-outdoor use, the Covington collection's multi-colored Flamingos design debuts at summer markets.
Couristan adds new looks to its successful Covington indoor-outdoor collection, including a whimsical flamingo pattern in Caribbean colors and an overall pineapple motif in citrus tones. Hand-hooked of 100 percent fiber-enhanced Courtron polypropylene, the line features intricately detailed designs in a broad range from contemporary geometrics to nature-inspired florals. Sizes include 2x4, 3'6" x 5'6", 5'6" x 8', 8x11, a 2'6" x 8'6" runner, and a 7'10" round.
New to the successful all-weather Covington collection by Couristan is the hand-hooked Pineapples design.
