HIGH POINT MARKET RUG SHOWROOM TOUR: PEOPLE AND PARTIES PART 1

HIGH POINT, N.C. -- Area rugs continue to command the spotlight at High Point Market, and at this fall's edition celebrations and events won coveted spots on designers' and retailers' calendars despite fierce competition from furniture and other accessory categories.

And as rug companies become ever-more sophisticated marketers -- with programming, parties, celebrity appearances and promises of sneak peeks at the next hot trend -- they're luring new customers to their showrooms and snagging appointments for line reviews. Outdoing itself this market, KAS held designer events with licensing partners Libby Langdon and Jewel Branding (Hang Ten).  Loloi's showroom was overflowing with fans of Rifle Paper Co., and its founder artist Anna Bond. And Jaipur Living added a new program to win over buyers looking for a fun timeout from shopping: a hands-on class in paper marbling.

Tour RugNews.com's exclusive coverage of People and Parties, Part 1 with companies from Art Resources to Loloi. And don't miss Part 2 featuring companies Momeni through Unique Loom.
