How does Online Design by Rugs Direct work and what do customers receive when they purchase the service?

“The customer adds Online Design to their shopping cart just as if it was any standard product,” explained Bill Martin, vice president  of Merchandising. “This gives them access to a comprehensive questionnaire developed by our professional designer team.”

 The questionnaire asks the customer several detailed questions about their tastes and existing décor. It also requests that they provide the designer with a number of

photographs showing the room being decorated and the current color scheme of paint, fabrics and furniture. The questionnaire also asks for measurements of the room, the location of furniture and how the room is used on an everyday basis.

“The designer then puts all of this information together and comes up with some specific recommendations for the customer,” said Rex Creekmur, director of marketing for Rugs Direct. “We provide the homeowner with a professional, customized design board’ that will include at least three rug recommendation plus additional product suggestions to coordinate and customize the space,” he concluded.

The design board the customer receives is an electronic PDF document that incorporates links to the recommended products on the Rugs Direct website.

"It is a simple matter of clicking on the image of the chosen rug to go directly to that product’s details page at RugsDirect.com. The designer is also available to the customer for further consultation via e-mail or phone," added Kremer.
