DALTON, GA – This year I was invited to attend my first Fall High Point Market with my boss Lissa Wyman, editor and publisher of Rugnews.com and honestly on my 5 ½ hour drive to the event I wasn’t sure what to expect. The reality went far beyond my expectations.
Granted I was very tired, mentally and physically, from the long drive, but once we were walking up to the Showplace, IHFC and Market Square buildings, my energy level began going through the roof.
People were buzzing and moving with purpose. Once inside, showrooms were alive with activity and loads of energy. Potential customers were walking around with rug samples and information booklets.
As I began my tour, I noticed and enjoyed the fact that all facets of the home industry were combined on each floor. I found myself being drawn to showrooms because of the creative displays. The showrooms were homey, relaxing, inviting and open. The products were well presented in home settings, from floor to ceiling. Overall, they gave me a better visual of how certain rugs would look in a particular design setting.
I didn’t feel like I was walking into a ‘market’ nor did I realize how much time was spent in each showroom until Lissa and I were leaving and we would check our watches to determine which exhibitor to visit next.
With each showroom visit, exhibitors were pleased with the amount of sales and attendance of new and existing customers with positive outlooks for the year ahead. As my time at market wound down, I was still full of energy and excitement over what I had seen and experienced. I returned home with a new outlook on the High Point Market and look forward to attending the next one.
