ADAIRSVILLE, GA. - Chandra Tiwari has formed Chandra Rugs, a new vendor of quality handmade rugs. Tiwari was formerly chairman of Surya Rugs. He has sold his interest in Surya Rugs to Suryamani Tiwari.
Discussing the new business, Tiwari noted that Chandra rugs are already on their way to the US and the company will be showing at the January Atlanta and Las Vegas markets.
"I personally went to India on an extensive sourcing trip. Not only have I managed to find high quality rugs offering high value, but I have been successful in finding a way to deliver the rugs with great speed. We have already developed a variety of collections and initial shipments should be arriving in the US soon," Tiwari told Rugnews.com.
"My rugs will not only reflect the taste and demand of the market, but also the knowledge and experience that I have gained over the past 20 years in the industry."
Chandra Rugs will introduce an extensive group of collections ranging from contemporary, transitional and traditional styles in tufted, knotted and loomed constructions. "I have not only focused on color and quality, but also on price. This industry has always been aggressive in competition, demanding the best of everything."
Chandra Tiwari will be president of the new company. Son Ravi Tiwari, will be vice president. "Ravi Tiwari has grown up in this industry, and more importantly, alongside me. I have much faith in his energy and enthusiasm. He will work with me in national sales and also be closely watching product design and development."
Chandra Rugs will show its products for the first time on the second floor, booth 1618 of AmericasMart at the January 2006 International Rug Market.
In Las Vegas, Chandra Rugs will show at the Mandalay Bay 66618-20, 66718-20 from January 31 to February 3.
"We hope to have a permanent showroom for the July Atlanta Market. We also look forward to showing in permanent showrooms in both High Point and the Las Vegas World Market Center," he said.
Chandra Tiwari founded Surya Carpet, Inc. in America in 1986. The company began its American operations in New York, it then added a showroom in ORICA, and then moved the entire company to the carpet region of north Georgia in 1998.
