G. FRIED TO REMAIN IN LONG-TIME LOCATION AFTER SELLING OLD WESTBURY BUILDING

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. -- Wendy Fried, president and owner of G. Fried Carpet and Design Center, announced today that although the company had intended to move after selling the building it has occupied for years at 800 Old Country Road, G. Fried will instead lease from the new owners of the building.

"We are staying put," Fried told RugNews.com. "We sold on Oct. 27, and had all intentions of moving nearby. But we pull from so many areas--from Queens, the Hamptons, and even New Jersey and Connecticut. And as we searched for new locations, I found that everywhere we looked I would be losing access to some of these customers.  When we broke the news, we had so many calls from customers telling us, 'Please don't move too far away,' so I decided the best thing to do would be to work something out with the new building owners. We just signed a lease with them, and that's a wonderful thing," Fried said, adding that G. Fried is about to advertise its change of plans to customers.

Family owned and operated since 1889, G. Fried is the largest carpet and rug dealer on Long Island.  The company sells broadloom, area rugs and wood flooring, and opened Wendy's Attic, a department within the store 10 years ago for add-on sales of mirrors, home accents and window treatments.
