CHANGES ANNOUNCED FOR 7 W NEW YORK FOR 2014; FOUR RUG SHOWROOMS REMAIN
NEW YORK -- As the 7 W New York Building is transformed into office space, the building will retain three floors of showrooms in the gift, textile, tabletop, and fashion accessories markets in 2014, according to building management. The remaining rug showrooms will include Hellenic Rug Imports Canada (C-113); Orian Rugs (307), Rizzy Home (319) and Surya Rugs (419)
"On behalf of 7 W New York and MMPI, we would like to wish all of previous and current showrooms the best of luck in their future endeavors" the management announced.
As of January 1, 2014, 7 W New York will now be managed by Vornado’s Commercial Office Division.
"7 W New York will be undergoing several physical changes. While the lobby is under construction we will have a fully built-out temporary lobby located at 35th street and 5th Ave. " according to MMP!, the building owner.
The following showrooms will also continue to occupy their spaces at 7 W New York, participating in all of the applicable industry markets:

MMPI is an owner and operator of integrated showroom and office buildings, as well as trade show facilities, bringing buyers and sellers together through market events, trade and consumer shows and conferences each year.
MMPI manages The Merchandise Mart in Chicago; as well as the Architects & Designers Building and Piers 92/94 in New York City.

7 W was built in 1901and is rich in New York City's commercial history. It is most affectionately and historically rememberd as the flagship store for the Ohrbach's Department Store. Ohrbach's was in this building from 1954 to 1986 however is remembered as NY landmark by many visitors to the building.
After Orbach's closed it was converted to an office building and for a few years housed Fairchild Publications, publishers of Women's Wear Daily.
This Vornado-owned building was converted and remodeled to the showroom building in 2005.
