MIAMI -- At the 2016 edition of Art Basel in Miami, visitors will have multiple opportunities to view art rugs designed by world renowned artists from the edgy boutique studio Soho Design House (Soho DH).
Founder and CEO of the Los Angeles-based rug brand, Jacob Rahman has already installed two designs in the reception lobby of the Four Seasons Miami Hotel in Brickell.
Soho Design House art rugs framing the reception desk at the swank Four Seasons Hotel Miami are Audrey by Tristan Eaton (left) and Lady Coco by David Flores.
The rugs, Lady Coco by David Flores and Audrey by Tristan Eaton, will remain at the Four Seasons following Art Basel, and are for sale. Meticulously hand knotted by traditional artisans, using the finest lanolin rich wools and vivid bleed resistant dyes, Soho Design House art rugs honor culture while exhibiting modern design.
The Audrey rug from Soho Design House interprets a mural painted on brickwork by artist Tristan Easton of New York. Nuances in the weave of the 9x6 hand-knotted rug show the brick background against a vivid portrait of Audrey Hepburn.
Brown Jordan Event
On Dec. 1, Rahman will be among the six artists invited by Brown Jordan to help celebrate the company's special event during Art Basel/Design Miami, entitled "The Art of Business." Hosted by the University of Miami's School of Business Administration the event offers alums the opportunity to celebrate the entrepreneurial spirit while admiring a special collection of artwork presented by the artists from New York, Los Angeles and Miami.
The rugs selected by Rahman for the Brown Jordan event -- Flower Power by Katsuya Sugimoto and Queen Elizabeth by D*Face -- will be moved after the event to the Urbanica Hotel in Miami Beach, where they'll be on display (and for sale) throughout 2017.
British multi-media street artist D*Face (Dean Stockton) uses the term 'aPOPcalyptic' to describe his statement making art and anti-establishment values exemplified in the Queen Elizabeth rug from Soho Design House on view during Art Basel Miami and Design Miami.
The Flower Power rug by fine artist Katsuya Sugimoto of Japan is not for the shy collector. The hand-knotted wool rug incorporates a political statement against gun violence within a peaceful floral framework.
The exclusive alumni event will take over Brown Jordan's new three story showroom located in the heart of Miami's Design District. Dean Anuj Mehrotra will welcome the University of Miami's most generous supporters, prominent alumni and board members for an evening of networking with fellow 'Canes.
The dramatic three-story Brown Jordan showroom in Miami's Design District will host "The Art of Business" event during Art Basel.
By merging the worlds or art and business, the school's alumni will be able to share meaningful conversations with fellow entrepreneurs while connecting with successful local and international artists.
In addition to Rahman, the following artists will be exhibiting their work during "The Art of Business": Marcus Rivero: Rivero is a UM School of Business alumni who founded his own company called "Soles By Sir" in Miami, Florida. Rivero creates custom cleats for NFL, MLB and NBA players. During the "Art of Business" event, Rivero will debut his first canvas piece which incorporates actual cleats worn by UM alumni football players.
Laura Greig: New York City-based Greig is an oil painter and builds robotic arms to help her paint. As the founder of American Cyborg, she explores the intersection of animals, humans, and machines.

Trained by St. Petersburg master painter Leonid Gervis, Demarchelier has been avidly painting for the past 25 years.
Terrence Dexter Francois: Born and raised in Miami and creatively known as Cois. In 2011, Cois and his league of artisans contributed to Brooklyn's art & music scene, by opening a creative space parallel of Andy Warhol's, Factory, called BK Studio 3L. When Cois moved back to South Florida, he launched his creative brand called "Art Mob."
Patricia Beltran: Born and raised in Minas Gerais, Brazil, Patricia has experimented with various art techniques but she defines her style with the use of palette knives, which she says "gives me freedom to see beyond the details and focus on shapes, color and values."
