DUE PROCESS AND KRAVET IN JOINT VENTURE FOR LUXURY COLLECTIONS
La Vie en Rose by interior designer Barbara Barry is part of the joint venture distribution agreement between Kravet Carpet and Due Process Stable Trading Co.
NEW YORK -- To-the-Trade specialist Kravet Carpet and high end rug and home furnishings importer Due Process Stable Trading Co. have entered into a joint venture for the manufacturing, marketing and distribution of the new Kravet Tufts collection of hand-tufted rugs and carpet.
The announcement was made by Nicholas Lomangino, vice president of floor covering for Kravet and David Grasse, president of Due Process Stable Trading.
The newTufts collection by Kravet Carpet includes exclusive carpet designs by interior designer Barclay Butera as well as the Kravet staff. New designs from Barbara Barry for Elegant Floors are also included in the joint venture.
The products are available as both rugs and wall-to-wall carpeting, but the major emphasis is on rugs.
The program includes over 40 luxury hand-tufted designs in custom sizes and colors.
"With strike-off samples available in two to three weeks and carpet delivery 10 to 12 weeks after that, these hand-tufted carpets from India and China will complement designers’ schedules," said Lomangino.
The products are hand tufted of New Zealand semi worsted wool, viscose or a combination of both. They are made in India and China. Prices begin at a suggested retail of $2,000 for a 6x9 rug or $ 38 sq. ft.
"Due Process is responsible for sourcing the overseas manufacturing and Kravet will be responsible for sales and marketing and will distribute the products through its extensive showroom network and road sales team," said Lomangino
"The primary distribution channel will be the interior designer, but we will also sell a select group of high end carpet and furniture dealers nationally," he said.
Designed to work in harmony with Barbara Barry fabrics, trimmings and wall coverings for Kravet, the Elegant Floors collection features a variety of textures and a palette of 90 colors.

Barclay Butera’s designs for the Tufts collection take their inspiration from the same sources as his new Kravet fabric collection. Centered on four classic atmospheres, Butera's s carpet and fabric designs are inspired by the beach, the mountains, urban metropolis and country-getaway.
Lomangino stressed the versatility of the program. "Designers have the option to choose from our exclusive designs and more than 120 colors or to fully customize carpets to suit their needs. We also give them the choice of using New Zealand wool, viscose or some combination. "
The Tufts Collection will be available in Kravet showrooms by late December 2008. It will also be available for viewing by appointment at the Due Process Stable Trading Co. showroom (3 A-5) at the Atlanta Rug Market, January 7 to11, 2008.
Kravet is a 90 year-old fourth generation, privately held family business with headquarters in Bethpage, NY. The company offers a wide range of fabrics in the decorative fabrics industry, with designs that range from traditional to contemporary colors and patterns. The company specializes in designer inspired licensed fabric and trimmings collections as well as new ventures in upholstered furniture and other home furnishings such as carpets and lighting.
