NEW YORK  -Company C, Inc., has joined forces with Kate's Paperie, the New York City  paper emporium, to open a home furnishings boutique in New York City's SOHO district.

The 1,100 sq.  ft.  shop-within-a-shop  features such Company C products including hand-crafted area rugs, novelty quilts and bedding collections, and decorative pillows and throws.  The store  is located at 561 Broadway with a separate entrance at 85 Prince St.

"This  venture marks the first store-within-a-store concept for Company C.  Opening in this visible location will increase the awareness of Company C in an important market,€VbCrLf said

Walter Chapin, president of Company C.  "The new collaboration also offers exciting crossover opportunities for both companies. For example,  one future plan is to create a line of limited-edition stationery products based on Company C's textile designs.€VbCrLf

Chapin said the two companies got together because they share a common design philosophy. "Company C has always stood for leading edge colors, and innovative designs.  Kate's Paperie is known for its papers and luxury goods created from sensuous materials using bold color and designs,€VbCrLf said Chapin.

Joe Barriero, president of Kate's Paperie, also commented on the crossover opportunities, "We felt the home furnishings market was a natural extension of our dedication to great design. Company C's textiles, with their outstanding color sensibility and fantastic textures truly complemented Kate's philosophy in the marketing of paper as fashion. We are pleased  to join with them and extend the identity and versatility of both our businesses.€VbCrLf

Company C was founded in 1994 by Walter and Christine Chapin with the goal of creating extraordinary rug designs, with an uncommon design twist that offered a refreshing alternative to the traditional. In 2003, Company C expanded the line to include decorative bedding.  The company is headquartered in Concord, NH, where it operates a design studio, distribution center and 8,000 sq. ft. retail store.

Kate's Paperie was founded in 1988 by Leonard Flax and Joe Barreiro. With four locations in Manhattan, another in Greenwich CT, and an online store, the paper specialist sells exotic papers and paper accoutrements.
