MOHAWK SELECT JOINS FORCES WITH
MOHAWK HOME IN HIGH POINT AND BEYOND

HIGH POINT, NC - Mohawk Select, the mid-range rug maker, has joined forces with sister company Mohawk Home to launch a wide variety of rug and home textiles products at Showplace, according to David Moyer, general sales manager for Mohawk Select.

Mohawk Select will  become a part of the Mohawk Home division, effective May 1. For the past several years, Mohawk Select had come under the aegis of Mohawk Industries' Fashion Group division, based in Eden, NC. 

Under the new program, Mohawk Home rugs will continue to be sold by the Karastan-Fashion Group sales organization. However, the rugs will now be distributed from Mohawk Home's headquarters in Sugar Valley, GA.

 Mohawk Select is a bridge line of rugs retailing for $99 to $499 in 5 by 8 size. They are aimed at the furniture and specialty store business. Rugs which carry the Mohawk Home label are directed to mass market channels.

David Moyer will now report directly to Jim Quist, vice president of sales for Mohawk Home. Moyer will continue to concentrate is efforts on furniture stores and carpet and rug specialists.

Jeff Vaughn and Jim Gentry have joined Mohawk Home and will be responsible for developing sales in catalog, Internet and emerging retail channels.

Mohawk Home was once a rug exhibitor at the IHFC, but in recent years, the company has exhibited at Showplace through its Goodwin Weavers division of  home accents.

The appearance of over 200 Mohawk Select rugs at this week's High Point market signals a change in Mohawk Home's marketing approach to both rugs and decorative home textiles, Moyer said.

�VbCrLfThe Goodwin Weavers brand is being phased out and, going forward, all home textiles products, including pillows and throws, will be marketed under the Mohawk Home name,�VbCrLf said Moyer. 

Mohawk Home is a division of Mohawk Industries, which manufactures and distributes  all types of floor coverings.
