RUG IS CENTERPIECE
OF OVAL OFFICE MAKEOVER

New rug from the Scott Group of Grand Rapids, MI., is the centerpiece of US President Barack Obama's Oval office
in the White House in Washington, DC
WASHINGTON, DC -- A new oval rug is gracing the oval office of US President Barack Obama. The rug has been receiving press kudos all week as "the centerpiece of the room." It was made by The Scott Group of Grand Rapids, MI.
The rug was hand-tufted in Grand Rapids of wool. 25% of the wool came from recycled sources.
Rich Ruggeri, a principal of The Scott Group, was even interviewed on "All Things Considered," a popular program on National Public Radio. To listen to the interview, click here. To hear experts from the design community discuss the room and the rug, click here.
The rug, like the other new furnishings, was made in the US. The new rug has a white and cream-colored field with a large medallion of the blue presidential seal. Blue stripes ring the edges of the border. The border features quotations from four U.S. presidents and the Rev. Martin Luther King.
The makeover was not done at taxpayer expense. The White House said costs were covered by the nonprofit White House Historical Association, through a contribution from the committee that paid for President Obama’s inauguration.
