EINSTEIN MOOMJY NAME TO GET
NEW LIFE AS PART OF NEW JERSEY DECORATING EXCHANGE

ROCHELLE PARK, NJ  -- The New Jersey Decorating Exchange  has acquired the intangible assets of Einstein-Moomjy, according to David Greenberg, president of The New Jersey Decorating Exchange. The Einstein-Moomjy brand will be relaunched as part of NJDX at the end of September, Greenberg said.

The assets acquired by NJDX include Einstein-Moomjy's  trademarks, phone numbers, customer lists and website,

"The addition of the Einstein-Moomjy showroom to the Exchange will complement our exiting floor covering business and add an extra element to the design center’s selection," Greenberg noted.

NJDX recently moved to a new 15,000 sq. ft. store on Rte 17 in Rochelle Park, NJ. NJDX also operates a store in Greenwich, CT. "We will add the Einstein-Moomjy brand to the Connecticut location at a later time," said Greenberg.

Einstein Moomjy  was founded in 1955 in Bloomfield, NJ by brothers Ted and Ernst Einstein and Walter and Albert Moomjy. For many years, Einstein-Moomjy  represented taste and elegance in the often rough-and-tumble world of floor covering retailing. For years, the company called itself "The Carpet Department Store."

Einstein-Moomjy's product mix covered a broad price range of Oriental rugs, area rugs, broadloom carpeting and hard surface floors. In the late 1990's the company moved its flagship business to a two-store campus on Rte 17 in Paramus, NJ,  where furniture and home accessories were added to the merchandise mix. Einstein-Moomjy's new home is approximately 5 miles south of its former location.

Through its history, Einstein-Moomjy never advertised on the basis of price. Instead, the company relied on a series of  tongue-in-cheek newspaper and radio ads that provided a wry commentary on retail advertising in general.

Best known headline was "Moomsday is Coming," which announced the company's semi-annual sale events.

Einstein Moomjy at one time operated six stores in New Jersey and Manhattan. The company closed its Manhattan store in 2010.  Einstein-Moomjy filed for bankruptcy protection in September, 2011.

New Jersey Decorating Exchange is a a hybrid of both a to-the-trade showroom and retail store. The company specializes in fabrics, floor coverings, home accessories and furniture with over 200 product lines represented.

"Moomsday is coming back," said Greenberg. "We are extremely pleased with this acquisition and the new dimension it will bring to our company."
