OUTDOOR UMBRELLA COMPANY TREASURE GARDEN GROWS ITS RUG BUSINESS In its 2016 catalog, Treasure Garden coordinates a new polypropylene outdoor rug in Neptune blue and champagne with a 9-foot auto-tilt umbrella, also in Neptune.

LAS VEGAS - Outdoor umbrella manufacturer Treasure Garden of Baldwin Park, CA, unveiled an expanded 2016 outdoor rug collection at the company's debuting 5,600 square foot showroom, C-1215 last month at Las Vegas Market.  Following the successful west coast launch, the company  will present its full line of umbrellas, rugs and more at the Casual Market Chicago, September 16 to 19, 2015, at Chicago Merchandise Mart showroom (#1655).

"We introduced the Treasure Garden outdoor rug line in September, 2012 and the category is doing very well," explained Jeff B. Dorough, VP sales and marketing, Treasure Garden. "The program has been successful because it provides additional sales opportunities to our current Treasure Garden umbrella retailers."

"Our strategy is that our umbrellas can help sell a rug and a rug can help sell an umbrella. They are both key outdoor fashion accessories that can enhance any outdoor environment." New for 2016, the Gold collection features three rugs styled to create a natural sisal look and hand. The continuing Silver collection includes thirteen styles with two new additions for 2016. All rugs are crafted of 100% polypropylene yarns in an all-weather construction that is stain and soil resistant, and include a UV stabilizer for colorfast quality. The rugs are made in Belgium and come with a one-year fade warranty.

Treasure Garden merchandises the rugs with shade products in complementary or coordinating colors. "Color is key in accessories," Dorough said. "We are directing our efforts to our specialty store dealers. They can now purchase outdoor rugs from the same vendor as they purchase their umbrellas."

The new Gold collection features Birmingham in almond, earth tone yarns woven into a distinct bordered solid 100% polypropylene multi-ply cabled heat-set yarns. Suggested retail is $225 in 5'3"x7'4".

New additions to Treasure Garden's Silver collection include the geometric Charleston in henna intermixed with natural colored yarns. The polypropylene outdoor rug retails at $150 in 5'3"x7'4".

The tightly edited line is offered in what Dorough says are best-selling sizes:  5x7 and 8x10. "We currently offer 16 styles in two sizes. The key to effectively merchandise this category is our tower rug display," he says of the movable merchandising rug tower display, which holds up to six rugs. "It continues to be an important sales tool for Treasure Garden Outdoor Rug retailers with its ability to be positioned in high traffic areas as well as alongside complementary products," Dorough explained.
