LAS VEGAS
- Oppressive heat did not deter Las Vegas Market attendees from
indulging in shopping breaks at the inspirational settings of outdoor
furniture paired with Oriental Weavers' rugs throughout the courtyard
that connects all three World Market Center buildings. "We are the
largest outdoor rug producer in the world, so it was important to make a
statement this summer when Las Vegas Market placed such heavy emphasis
on casual living," said Jonathan Witt, senior vice president, Oriental
Weavers.
Indeed,
the fully decked out displays called attention to the high profile
furniture brands at World Market Center's new dedicated outdoor living
floors (C-12 and C-13) which debuted last week in Building C. WMC's
focus on the category underscores the escalating significance of outdoor
furnishings at the retail and consumer levels.

"Outdoor
is an important business for us and our fastest-growing category. We've
had double-digit growth every year for the past five years. As the
outdoor category in general continues to grow in importance to the
consumer, we're seeing the demand for innovative, aesthetically
pleasing, and higher-end outdoor rugs also grow at a rapid pace," Witt
said.
While
OW's coveted Tommy Bahama Home licensing program has three strong
outdoor lines that continue to do well (Cabana, Seaside and
Atrium), the company also offers a broad range of Oriental Weavers
branded outdoor collections that also include many best-sellers. "Rug
buyers have come to expect superior design, quality and innovation from
Oriental Weavers. We continue leading the industry in outdoor offerings
and are fortunate to work with a large number of outdoor customers of
all sizes - from brick and mortar furniture and specialty stores to
major internet players," Witt explained.

Oriental Weavers recently added the new Tommy
Bahama Atrium indoor-outdoor collection which is hand-hooked in
China ($299 in 5x8) to its successful licensing rug program with
the lifestyle brand.

Among the
OW rug collections featured in the Las Vegas outdoor displays were
Caspian with Polywood furniture; Montego with Ebel furniture; and the
Riviera rug collection with Sunset West. A Tommy Bahama Cabana rug was
featured in the Americas Backyard set and a Tommy Bahama Seaside rug
with Zuo Modern. OW Lee furniture was paired with a Lanai collection
rug and Summer Classics with a rug from the Karavia collection.
Clean graphics and bold bright colors define the Riviera all-weather rug collection for outdoor or indoor use. Crafted of polypropylene it is EZ Clean, resists stains and is kid and pet friendly. |
Inside
its Las Vegas showroom, Oriental Weavers also made a statement with a
display featuring the new Meridian indoor/outdoor line which was
introduced at Atlanta International Rug Market in July. From a design
standpoint, Witt said Meridian addresses several outdoor trends right
now, including modern geometric patterns, two-color stripes and classic
border designs. It also includes trending colors like indigo blue, Aruba
blue, Kelly green and tomato red. "From an innovation standpoint, the
collection features a unique tricolor yarn for added color versatility.
Buyers tell us Meridian hit the nail on the head - that it has exactly
what consumers are looking for, so we expect a lot from this
collection."
