08122010 Domotex Hannover Design Awards Accepts Entries from all Hand-Made Rug Manufacturers

DOMOTEX DESIGN AWARDS OPENS TO
ALL HAND-MADE RUG MAKERS WORLD WIDE

HANNOVER, GERMANY – The Carpet Design Awards at Domotex Hannover 2011 is accepting entries from handmade rug and carpet manufacturers worldwide even if they are not exhibitors at the trade show, according to market officials. The market will take place January 15 to 18, 2011.

The move to allow everyone to participate will consolidate the reputation of the Carpet Design Awards as a highly prestigious award across the entire handmade rug and carpet indusry worldwide, according to Domotex Hannover. 

During the Carpet Design Awards top designers of handmade carpets are judged in 10 categories on the basis of such criteria as the quality of the design, materials and crafting, as well as creativity and innovativeness.

The categories are:  

● Best Modern Design Standard  

● Best Modern Design Superior

● Best Modern Design Deluxe

● Best Traditional Nomadic Design / Ethnic Superior

● Best Traditional Nomadic Design / Ethnic Deluxe

● Best Traditional Urban Design /Workshop Carpets

● Best Old / Antique Carpet

● Best Collection Modern

● Best Collection Traditional

● Best Innovation

The three best entries selected in each category will be presented at Domotex Hannover 2011 during the award ceremony held on January 16.  The winners who place first in each category will receive a grand prize of 1,000 Euros ($1,301.60).

The judges will be John W. Bain (UK), director of Brinton’s Global Commercial Design, Montse Cuesta (Spain), editor in chief, Architectural Digest (Spanish edition), James A. French (USA), director of Beauvais Carpets, Ewald Schlögl (Austria), buyer with XXXLutz KG and David Sorgato (Italy), founder of the Michail Gallery.
