RESTORATION BY COSTIKYAN BUYS CHATALBASH RUG SUPPLY HOUSE
NEW YORK -- Restoration by Costikyan has purchased Chatalbash Rug Co. of New York, a supply house for Oriental rug and carpet materials. The company will now be known as Chatalbash by Costikyan.
Ron and Doris Chatalbash, the principals of the Chatalbash Rug Co. will join the new company and continue their executive duties.
In addition to cleaning and fiber protection products, Chatalbash by Costikyan will carry an expanded line of rug and carpet supplies including rolls of wrapping paper and plastic tubing, environmentally friendly non-slip padding by Jade Industries and Appleton wool. Chatalbash also carries an exclusive line of cotton Oriental rug fringes manufactured in the United States.
Under the new ownership, Chatalbash will continue distribution of Michael Halebian, Inc. products and will also add Halebian's line of hardwood and tile.
Chatalbash by Costikyan will also become a full distributor for Masterblend, carrying a complete line of rug, carpet and upholstery cleaning supplies.
Costikyan, founded in 1886, specializes in the care, restoration and cleaning of rugs and tapestries.
The Chatalbash Rug Co., one of the pioneers in the importing of Oriental rugs in the United States, was founded by Yohanna Chatalbash in the early 1920’s. In the 1950's, the company began selling Oriental rug restoration and cleaning supplies to the trade. The company sells products on a local, national and worldwide basis.
