VAN DER MANDELE BECOMES PRESIDENT OF AMS IMPORTS; SCHEWE RETIRES |

AMHERST, MA – Taylor van der Mandele will become the new owner and president of AMS Imports, effective July 1, 2014. Anne Schewe, the company founder , is retiring and will remain as a consultant to AMS.
Van Der Mandele has a background in marketing and sales and recently completed her MBA. Van Der Mandele and Schewe have been working together for over a year in order to make a smoothe transition.
AMS Imports has worked closely with Aid to Artisans, an organization that connects handicraft people in developing countries with importers such as AMS in order to increase export to the US market. AMS is working currently in Jordan, Peru, and Egypt with the Aid to Artisans connection and additionally imports from Scotland, Afghanistan, Morocco, India, Colombia, Nepal, Turkey, and Uzbekistan. The company has also seveloped the Rug Search Group, a program that sources rugs for designers that are working on projects in need of area rugs.
