LESLIE ATIYEH NAMED PRESIDENT OF ATIYEH INTERNATIONAL

Leslie Atiyeh

NEWBERG, OR -- Leslie Atiyeh has been named president of Atiyeh International, Ltd. She succeeds Tom Atiyeh who is now the executive director of Opal Creek Ancient Forest Center. Tom Atiyeh will remain connected to the firm as executive vice president.

Leslie Atiyeh co-founded Atiyeh International, Ltd. in 1985 as a continuation of the Atiyeh family's Oriental rug importing business that began in Oregon in 1900.

Atiyeh is a 1984 graduate of Lewis and Clark College, conversationally fluent in Mandarin Chinese, and has over 20 years experience throughout Asia and the Middle East.

"I look forward to continuing Atiyeh's commitment to high-end rug production,"  said Atiyeh.

" I am looking forward to the challenge of moving much of our hand-knotted weaving from China to India. Our nationwide dealer network is very supportive of Atiyeh's niche in the market place and I intend to keep up our high level of service to our stocking dealers.€VbCrLf

Atiyeh is known for traditional Kerman designs from Persia and China. The company's entrance into India provides a more relaxed line of Oriental rugs, giving the company a second marketing  focus.

Atiyeh International, Ltd. sells through specialty Oriental rug retailers throughout North America.

The company will debut its new Indian production of hand-spun, vegetal-dyed wool rugs at the Armory  on  Lexington Ave. at 26th Street during the New York International Carpet Show Sept. 18 to 21, 2007.
